All vehicle rentals in Belfast are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Belfast requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Belfast, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, though this may vary by vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the period noted in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Belfast office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Belfast, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by you. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was picked up, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel as collected; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns are subject to extra fees, and you should contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental in Belfast. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these options is advisable. You will remain responsible for damages or losses up to the insurance excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky pursuits is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Northern Irish law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Regulations
These Terms are governed by Northern Irish law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Northern Irish courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
